Today in History:


1924: Astronomer John Campbell died in Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.

1927: Max Karl Ernst Ludwig Planck retired from the University of Berlin.

1958: First official day of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Existing NACA facilities, personnel, policies, and advisory committees were transferred to NASA, and the NACA laboratories were renamed Research Centers.
