Adara Information:
The 19th brightest star in the sky, Adhara is the second brightest star (after Sirius) in the constellation Canis Major (the larger dog) and helps form the western leg. Located just below Sirius in a triangle of bright stars, Adhara is at the lower right. The ancient Arabs referred to this small three-star pattern as "The Virgins," thus the name Adhara, meaning virgin. It is a binary star.
