National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Agencies

There are many agencies within the arms of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Discover how each of these National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)agencies and research centers contributes to space exploration technology.
Aero Space Center
This National Aeronautics and Space Administration research center has the goals and objectives to provide direction for NASA's Enterprise programs.
Ames Research Center
Located at Moffett Field, CA, Ames Research Center is one of the NASA agencies that specializes in research geared toward creating new knowledge and new technologies that span the spectrum of NASA interests.
Dryden Flight Research Center
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Dryden Flight Research Center, located at Edwards, California, is NASA's primary flight research center.
Glenn Research Center
Glenn Research Center defines and develops propulsion, electrical power, and communications technologies for NASA's aeronautics and space missions.
Goddard Institute for Space Studies
GISS is a division of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Goddard Space Flight Center Earth Sciences Directorate and a unit of the Columbia Earth Institute. One of the NASA agencies that emphasizes a broad study of global climate change.
Goddard Space Flight Center
The mission of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Goddard Space Flight Center is to expand knowledge of the Earth and its environment, the solar system and the universe through observations from space.
Human Space Flight Center
The primary facility of National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) agencies that deals with all manned space flights.
Independent Verification & Validation Center
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) IVV has as its mission to research, develop, apply, verify, and publish software technologies for competitive advantage and the advancement of science that enable NASA space exploration missions.
Jet Propulsion Laboratory
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Jet Propulsion Laboratory, managed by the California Institute of Technology, is NASA's lead research center for robotic exploration of the solar system.
Kennedy Space Center
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility, Kennedy Space Center is, perhaps, the most familiar agency of all the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's divisions. Formerly know as Cape Canaveral, the name was changed to honor the late president, John F. Kennedy. It consists of a number of smaller agencies to support human space exploration.
Johnson Space Center
Johnson Space Center was established in 1961 as the Manned Spacecraft Center and, in 1973, renamed in honor of the late President and Texas native, Lyndon B. Johnson. It consists of a number of smaller agencies that continue to lead NASA’s efforts in human space exploration.
Langely Research Center
More than half of National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Langley Research Center's research is in aeronautics. Many of the facility’s 3800 civil service and contract employees focus on improving today’s military and civilian aircraft, while designing tomorrow’s jets and space exploration technology.
Marshall Space Flight Center
The Marshall Space Flight Center, a field installation of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), was established in 1960 and named in honor of General George C. Marshall, the Army Chief of Staff during World War II, Secretary of State, and Nobel Prize Winner for his world-renowned "Marshall Plan."
National Space Science Data Center
The National Space Science Data Center (NSSDC) is NASA's archive and provides access to all agencies to a wide variety of astrophysics, space physics, solar physics, lunar and planetary data from National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) space flight missions, in addition to selected other data and some models and software.
Space Telescope Science Institute
NASA's STScI center is home to the Hubble Telescope. One of many National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) agencies, it provides visual space exploration technology for NASA.
Stennis Space Center
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Stennis Space Center is responsible for NASA's rocket propulsion testing and for partnering with industry to develop and implement remote sensing technology for space exploration.
Wallops Flight Center
Located on the Virginia Eastern Shore, Wallops Flight Center supports National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) scientific research and orbital and sub-orbital payloads for space exploration technology.
White Sands Test Facility
White Sands Test Facility (WSTF) is a preeminent resource for testing and evaluating potentially hazardous materials, space exploration flight components, and rocket propulsion systems technology for National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
