C/2007 N3 (Lulin) Orbit DiagramNASA/JPL
Astronomers at the NCU Lulin Observatory in Taiwan discovered an unknown comet on July 11, 2007. This was confirmed July 14 by US astronomer James Young at Table Mountain. It was named Comet Lulin, C/2007 N3. Comet Lulin's path brings it close to Earth in Februay, reaching its closest point on the 21st. It should brighten to around 6th mag., easily visible with binoculars. Look for it near Libra on the 1st before it passes Virgo around the 13th. It grazes Saturn just after it's closest approach to Earth before traveling past Leo.

The goddess of love continues to shine in February. Jupiter & Mercury may have become morning "stars," but Venus still lights the night. Around mid-month, Saturn makes its appearance and Ceres continues to dazzle.
