Columbia Missions

The 1st Space Shuttle, Columbia was launched in 1981. Achievements for Columbia included the recovery of the Long Duration Exposure Facility (LDEF) satellite during STS-32 in 1990, and the STS-40 Spacelab Life Sciences mission in 1991. Columbia was destroyed over east Texas on its landing descent to Kennedy Space Center on Feb. 1, 2003.
