Born: November 23, 1935 in Moscow, USSR.
Education: Aircraft designer, Moscow Aviation Institute.

Experience: Vladislav Volkov was a cosmonaut who was born on November 23, 1935, in Moscow. Volkov became a cosmonaut in 1966. He spent over 29 days in space on two space flights. In 1969, Volkov flew aboard Soyuz 7. This was one of three Soyuz spacecraft in orbit at the same time.
Vladislav Volkov made his second space flight aboard Soyuz 11 in 1971. The crew traveled to the Salyut 1 space station. They activated the station and tested some of the equipment. Tragically, the crew was killed during re-entry to Earth's atmosphere. An air valve opened prematurely and the crew suffocated.
