California Wildfires
USGS Landsat Project Satellite Image

Wildfires rage through the San Bernadino and San Diego counties in southern California, with as many as eight separate fires burning in the heavily populated area. As of the time this image was acquired, the fires had consumed over 500 square miles of brush and trees, and 300 homes had been destroyed. 300,000 more homes are at risk from these fires, which have not yet been contained.
