NASA's Johnson Space Center Closed for Edouard

Monday August 4, 2008
NASA's Johnson Space Center closed at 12 PM CDT Monday and will remain closed through Tuesday because of the threat of tropical storm Edouard. Plans call for the center to reopen Wednesday.

Edouard is predicted to cross the Texas coast early Tuesday.

Flight control of the International Space Station will continue from Houston, and the Space Station Mission Control Center at Johnson will remain open.

Center employees should check with Johnson's Employee Information Line for updated information on the status of the center. The local telephone number is 281-483-3351. If local communications are disrupted, employees can call a toll-free information line at 877-283-1947.

NASA has a public Web site to convey important information for NASA employees and contractors impacted by Edouard.

Here at About Astronomy and Space, we hope everyone at Space Center Houston as well as everyone in the path of Edouard remain safe.
