According to FoxNews, a geologist from Peru's Geological, Mining and Metallurgical Institute has confirmed that a "rocky meteorite" did indeed fall in Peru, based on the fragments analyzed. However, doctors are skeptical about the reported illness of a large number of residents.
People living near the crash site reported smelling a sulfurous odor before having stomach and head aches. While geologists doubt the smell of sulfur, some medical experts think the symptoms may have been psychosomatic, caused by fear.
