Lisa Nowak Has a New Job

Thursday March 22, 2007
Navy Captain Lisa Nowak, who was recently terminated from her astronaut assignment by NASA after she was charged with trying to kidnap a romantic rival, has a new job. The Navy says she will develop flight lesson plans as part of her new assignment developing curriculum and training programs working for the staff of the Chief of Naval Air Training Command in Corpus Christi. Although Lisa Nowak was originally expected to start her new assignment this week, the Navy now says she will be reporting for duty in April.

Lisa Nowak was arrested February 5, 2007 and charged with attempted kidnapping and burglary with assault. She allegedly confronted a rival for the heart of fellow astronaut Bill Oefelein. Police say she stalked Air Force Captain Colleen Shipman in a parking lot at the airport in Orlando, FL and had in her possession a BB gun, steel mallet, knife and rubber tubing.

Lisa Nowak could go to trial in late July. The separated mother of three has filed a not guilty plea.
