Second Man on the Moon is First on Grand Canyon Skywalk

Wednesday March 21, 2007
Our About.com Guide to the Southwestern United States, Liz Mitchell, attended the grand opening of the much talked about Grand Canyon Skywalk. Among the VIPs also attending were tribal dignitaries from the Hualapai tribe (who built the Skywalk); Native American astronaut, John Herrington, and Buzz Aldrin, who landed on the moon with Neil Armstrong during the Apollo 11 Mission.

Liz says that Buzz seemed to enjoy himself as he joined in a cermonial dance with some Hualapai women. After a blessing in Hualapai, Buzz led one group as John Herrington led another from the opposite end for the "first walk," meeting in the middle of the horseshoe shaped walk.

Liz quotes Buzz as saying that while "It really doesn't compare that much to walking in space," the experience was wonderful.
