Near Earth Objects - Are We In Danger?
Monday September 29, 2003
A recent article on BBC.com says that a small meteoroid (approximately 16 feet wide) flew past the Earth recently. It was detected 21 hours after its closest approach.
This piece of space debris was too small to have caused any damage, and the ability to spot something so small is amazing, but it still gives me cause for concern.
If the next space rock is bigger and actually aimed for us, do we want to discover it 21 hours later?
